Current theme song

I now know what I will say when people ask why i'm not married yet. I have come to truely love this song! Its so PERFECT and it is now my life's themed song!

Lyrics:

Where have all the good men gone

And where are the gods?
Where's the streetwise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?

Isn't there a white knight
Upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and turn
And dream of what I need

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure, he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life, larger than life

Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasies
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me

Racing on the thunder
And rising with the heat
Isn't there a Superman
To sweep me off my feet?

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure, he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life

I pray the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I can swear that there's someone somewhere
Watching me

Through the wind and then the chill and the rain
And the storm and the raging flood
Oh, his approaches like a fire in my blood

I'll meet a hero
And then we'll dance till the morning light
Dreaming, he will lead me
Held tight, tonight's the night

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight

I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero till the morning light
He's gotta be sure, he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life, larger than life

Larger than life
Larger than life
Oh baby, baby, baby, you know, ooh
Oh

For those who don't know, this song was in the original footloose that was released in 1984 but it was a fast version when Kevin Bacon was dancing in the mill. Well they recently remade the movie and they slowed the song down, and I LOVE IT! Makes me love the music from the movie so much more that they can do different versions of it and still have it be just as good of songs!

Halloween

So because Halloween was on a Monday this year, and most of my friends had to work, I really wasn't planning on doing anything Halloween night. I was going to just stay at home and hand out candy (aka eat the candy) to the trick or treaters. So no plans, meant no costume/no fun. :( The institute wasn't going to do a dance this year but in place of it they rented out the roller dome in Nampa. I was really looking forward to a dance because in years past, its been the best dance they have all year, and roller skating for a couple hours while your in a costume wasn't appealing to me at all.
Well luckily I hung out with a friend of mine the weekend before and she convinced me to go with her to the institute activity. Problem #1: Since I hadn't planned anything for a costume I had no idea what I was going to do and I really didn't want to repeat a costume from the past few years. Where's the fun in that? Well with an idea my best friend gave me earlier in the month, I decided to take a stab at it. Problem #2: The shirt that makes the costume was out of stock everywhere. So what to do now?
Well problem solved! My very talented mother said she could make it super easy. She use to make mine and my siblings costumes when we were little all the time and I think she enjoyed making a costume again for me. So...with a little magic, and a wave of her fairy wand, she finished it and it turned out great!
Kimberly the pink power ranger.
My friend (a minion) who convinced me to go to the party.
Indiana Jones, 3 minions, a pirate, and a power ranger. The world is safe!
The friend (Ivy) who gave me the idea for the costume.
Afterwards we "watched"/hid under the blanket while a scary movie was playing.
I came home and my mom put this on facebook. I was 6 years old when the picture on the right was taken. My little brother was the blue power ranger that same year.

It was a fun Halloween! I loved my costume! Thanks to my mom (for sewing/making my shirt at the last moment), Ivy (for the costume idea) and to Kim (for making me go).

Beautiful Idaho

So remember how I loved the scenery while driving to Moscow a few weeks ago? Last weekend one of my friends from High School was getting married in McCall. I figured since I was right around the corner, that I'd make my way back up to Moscow again, but this time I was a little more prepared. I brought my camera with me and on the way up and the way back I stopped several times to take pictures of the trees, rivers, the lake in mccall, etc. I have to say the mountains in Idaho during the fall is now my favorite place to be!
Natalie's wedding was beautiful! She and her husband we married on a ranch in mccall next to the lake. The location was beautiful as well was the bride!

I loved her cake so much! Originally I walked right by it thinking it was a decoration, then when we were sitting down eating I saw it again.  It's defiantly Natalie looking!

On to the rest of the trip. Most of the pictures were taken between Horseshoe Bend and New Meadows.

This is so peaceful to me. I love how low the water is so you can see the rocks.

I love this bridge so much and the beautiful colors surrounding it!

These two pictures were taken at the ranch where Natalie had her wedding.

 McCall

All of these were taken at Payette Lake in McCall. Im in love!
On the way home, this is was about Grangeville and the whole sky looked like someone took their fingers through smooth sand and drew these lines. It was cool!

These two are my two of my favorites! Again I love the rocks!

I hope I get the chance to see more of beautiful Idaho next year during the fall.

October

Every year I get so anxious for October to come because it is my favorite month of the year! What is not to love about it? It's the starting of the holiday seasons, (which means lots of shopping) it cools off so your not dying of heat and you get to wrap up in blankets, it turns the whole world into amazing colors (red being the favorite), AND you get to finally pull out the cute clothes that have been keeping in the back of your closet for the past 8 months (boots, jackets, coats, scarves, etc). I'm getting so excited right now thinking about it. This October (yes there's only been 4 days of the month so far) has already been off to a GREAT start!

I got the chance to drive to northern Idaho for the weekend to visit a couple people that I have been missing since they left to go back to Uof I. If you have never driven through the rocky mountains during the fall, put it on your life to do list! Oh-my-goodness! It was SO BEAUTIFUL! If I wasn't on a time crunch to get there I would have stopped at every turn out and taken pictures. The temperature was just right for me to drive with the sun roof open, the sun was just past the mountain tops so it was bright but not so bright the sun's in your eyes, and I can't even describe how beautiful everything looked with the fall colors! Then on my way back when i wasn't driving in the dark near Moscow, I got to see the Palouse hills. (google it if you dont know what im talking about) I have never seen hills like that before. They may have been dry/dead wheat fields but it was so pretty looking! Also on my way back i stopped in McCall to eat and snapped a few pictures of the lake. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks for Natalie's wedding to see how much it changes.

McCall Lake and Lewiston with a few of the hills

Then there is Moscow. Not much to see there. It's your typical college town with apartments everywhere and lots of buildings with class rooms and a few stores here and there, but I think it's the prettiest campus I have been on. I don't know if it's because I got to walk around the campus on Sunday so it was really quite, or it was the company I was with, or the really pretty colors, or old buildings, or what, but it was so enjoyable. They have a really pretty garden area with so many different plants, trees, and flowers that we walked around for a couple of hours talking, looking, and pointing because there was so much to look at. I got to go in a few of the buildings and see the old architecture! (I think his favorite part of that was being able to stand in front of the classroom to see what it was like to be the teacher. haha weird kid) On top of all of this excitement, it was General Conference weekend. For the Sunday afternoon session we took his laptop and found a comfy place under a tree and laid down and watched the general authorities and the prophet speak to us. There were so many great talks that were given! It was just a great weekend!

I didn't take this picture but that's pretty much what one of the buildings looked like

I have loved every minute of October so far! Driving many hours and seeing what beautiful things God has created, hearing General Conference, seeing a new part of Idaho, spending lots of time with Justin, getting to sleep over at Brittany's sorority (well we didn't sleep much haha) and running into an old friend from high school while on campus was the cherry on top. There's not much more I could ask for.

Things to look forward to this month...
*more fall colors appearing
*the smell of fall
*hot chocolate or apple cider
*pulling out more coats and boots :)
*driving back to mccall for Natalie's wedding
*seeing my brother and sister-in-law and my niece that will be visiting
*Halloween and everything that comes with that
It will be a GREAT month!

4 months until...

So my life has been pretty boring recently. This summer was pretty much a let down compared to last summer. Maybe last summer I just did everything that was so incredibly fun and with the right people and nothing could compare or this summer really was just lame. We tried playing volleyball weekly and that flopped most of the time, we did however start back up our game nights which have been fun. My family didn't get to get together this year and do a family vacation which sucks because now we all currently live in 4 different states, but I did get to go down to visit for a few days to visit the ones in Utah. But it makes me miss my little brother a lot! Cant wait for him to be home next year...anyways haha I did have some fun times this summer but I guess last summer was just one for the books.

Well because this summer was lame-o, I told my friend Ivy that we needed to do something fun like a cruise or just a fun vacation somewhere we hadn't been before! Well, we decided to do just that!! We're going on a cruise with two of our other friends. So the four of us will be headed off in January and cruisin' to.... Catalina Island, California and then to Ensenada, Mexico. It's a 5 day cruise and we are already getting so stoked about it! We are all so looking forward to hopefully the nice weather and having a break from school and work! Ivy and I have already been shopping for the big trip and right now i'm working on getting my passport. Ah! It's going to be so much fun!

Here is our ship...

The first stop will be to Catalina Island

Then the last stop will be Ensenada, Mexico

I am so excited to go. All of us have been trying to work out more often and eat healthier so we can look good in that swim suit in the middle of hibernation season. We love looking at pictures and talking to our siblings and friends that have been on the same cruise before to see what things we need to do. AHH! So exciting!

Pick your standards

Alright I'm not the type of person who likes to tell the whole world when I get really frustrated and why, nor do I really like reading peoples blogs when they're really negative all the time. But I have to get this out there!

I think I have the best job in the world and I am really lucky to have started working there when I was a teenager. For those who don't know what I do...Remember when your a little girl and playing dress up, and you played "bride" or "getting married" or something along those lines. You put on a white skirt and white shirt, with your mom or older sisters prettiest high heels, grab their sparkliest necklace and ring and attach a pillow case to your hair for the final touch. TA-DAH! That is my job...I get to play dress up and make every girl extremely happy, many of which cry because they know they look beautiful, by helping them find their dream wedding dress. Something they will look back at YEARS from the day they get married and still say...I LOVE MY WEDDING DRESS! Sounds like so much fun right?

I have been doing this for the past 6 years. I've come to love it and know exactly what I'm doing. But there is only ONE thing I can NOT stand or really put up with. Girls who can't decide what their standards are and it's usually the Mormon girls for both prom and weddings. I had a bride come in today and she is LDS and getting married in the temple. She comes in and says she's found a dress some where else but it didn't have sleeves on it and that she needed a dress with sleeves, but was very picky about what kind of sleeves they are because she doesn't want it to look like a Mormon dress. Well I'm sorry you are a Mormon girl so deal with it! Then we spend an hour and a half trying on every different kind of wedding dress. The whole time she is complaining about the sleeves and them being to long and digging into her arm and they aren't pretty enough, etc. etc. So i ask her if she wants to try on a strapless dress and she says yes. We put one on and she said yep it's just the sleeves that i hate so I don't want a sleeved dress.

Ok there are so many things wrong with this. I wanted to just sit there and yell at her, do you realize what your saying? You are going to have to wear sleeves for the rest of your life so why are you choosing to not be completely modest on your wedding day when your getting married IN THE TEMPLE! You will always look like a Mormon girl to people who wear strapless dresses because you are SUPPOSE to have high standards. So DO NOT sit the fence and tell me you believe in being modest but you won't act upon it. I love what my friend said about it today "It's like what Elder Maxwell talked about-those who are wanting to live in Zion but are keeping a summer home in Babylon."

Moral to the story...Pick your standards and don't sit the fence. The fence is not a comfortable place to be. You can't pick what parts of the gospel you believe in and which you want to ignore. It doesn't work like that, they all go hand in hand. You can't say I believe in the Book of Mormon but I don't believe in Joseph Smith. You can't say I believe in being modest but not when i go to the lake or to prom or on my wedding day. I can say that experiences like this make me realize where I stand and what my standards are and I'm not ashamed of it.

SUMMER

I love being outside and specially in the summer time bcause there are so many things to do! The only down side is it didn't get warm until about mid summer so everything had to be pushed back, but we've finally be able to do lots of stuff!
This summer is the first time I've hiked up to table rock, most of the time we usually just drive up there. This was the next day after I hiked and unfortunately when we hiked we forgot the camera and it was an amazing sunset, but these and pretty too.
One of my very best friends from my childhood got married at the end of June. She and her identical twin are from eastern idaho and their grandmother lived next door to me at my old house and when they would come to visit, we would spend the whole time playing together. Well her sister got married a few years ago and i didn't get to go but I was very excited that this sister married a boy from Meridian so i got to see her and her parents at the reception. She looked so pretty! Love her and was excited to catch up with her.
The weekend of the 4th of July my friend and I went to Ann Morrison park to play frisbee golf but it was so hot we only played about 10 holes and then decided to go run underneith the fountain.
On July 4th my parents and I went back to Ann Morrison to look at the sidewalk chalk drawings they had. It was really cool! It made me think of Marry Poppins!
This is the one I liked the best
This is the one that won the compitition
My parents
On July 7th we took a trip up to Twin Falls to check out the shoshone falls. I hadnt been there since I was a little kid and the only thing I remember about it was me and my brothers and sister rolling down the hills there. So I wanted to go back to get the experience again.

Aislyn's birthday

So one thing you need to know about me but is I love my family. I guess it's true when they say absence makes the heart grow fonder. My 3 older/married siblings currently live in Utah and my younger brother is still on his mission. SO...that leaves me and my parents at home. Needless to say I get to take lots of trips to go visit them when I need some brother/sister time. The weekend of June 4th I went down to visit because I had the weekend off and it was my neices birthday party with my brothers and sister and the in-laws. I just love my neice to pieces!
She loves Micky and Minnie Mouse!
My brother in law made her a baby rocker. Pretty impressive right?
So she got some dolls to put in the rocker and she had to go around our circle and show each of us what she got. It was pretty cute!
I think it took all of us to get those dolls out of the box. Ya, try stealing one of those in the store...not gonna happen!
My favorite neice! Can't believe she's already 3 years old.
Alright siblings...lets start popping out some more babies so I can be entertained!
